Samsung Galaxy Note 20’s chipset might not be that bad after all

With the Galaxy Note 20 launch just a week away, all eyes will be on what upgrades Samsung brings to the table. While the chipset might remain unchanged, there might be a silver lining. While Samsung flagship like the Note series and the S series are powered by Snapdragon chipsets in the US and European markets, they come with Exynos chipset in Asian markets such as India. It often tends to lose out on the performance front against Qualcomm Snapdragon counterparts. However, a new leak suggests some good news in this regard. These optimizations should bring it closer to the Snapdragon 865 series. He even suggested that it is almost li...

Oppo Reno vs Oppo Reno 10x Zoom vs Oppo Reno Z: what’s the difference?

Oppo joined the Western smartphone market in style with its Oppo Reno phone range. These weren’t the Chinese phone company’s first devices released outside Asia, but were certainly the most popular. The base Oppo Reno has a stylish design and a fair amount of power, and the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom offers increased camera power and size. The flagship feature on both is the pop-up ‘shark fin’ section which houses the front camera and the rear flash, which brings a level of style to the pop-up camera world. Check out our Oppo Reno review Check out our Oppo Reno Z review Check out our Oppo Reno 10x Zoom review Then there’s the Oppo Reno Z , the affordable – yet equally stylish – budget device that drops the shark fin, as well as the specs, and has a lower price accordingly. All of these are capable mid-range devices, but that means if you’re in the market for a new smartphone and Oppo’s name has caught your eye, it can be hard ...

The EMUI 10 update elevates your Huawei P30 Pro to new levels of speed and user-experience

A couple of months ago the experience on the Huawei P30 Pro was elevated with the release of EMUI 9.1 that brought key visual and performance upgrades. It’s about to get even better with Huawei’s latest version of EMUI which is based on the freshly minted Android 10. As we’ve said in our review , the P30 Pro sets a new standard for the entire mobile industry. Its four rear cameras are quite simply astonishing, along with an eye-catching design and plenty of power.   Today we’re going to compare EMUI 9.1 with Huawei’s latest version EMUI 10 which runs on top of Android 10. Now, EMUI 10 is still in beta and it’s not the final version but we have it running on the P30 Pro and we wanted to show you some comparisons between EMUI 9.1 and talk about what’s changed in EMUI 10 and the new features you can expect if you have a compatible Huawei smartphone.  We’ve got two P30 Pros here - one running EMUI 9.1 and another on...

OnePlus 7T vs OnePlus 7: what's new in the upgraded handset?

OnePlus has just unveiled the OnePlus 7T , an upgraded version of the OnePlus 7 from June 2019. This follows the normal pattern OnePlus takes, releasing a flagship phone in the middle of the year, then following it up with a T variant later on. So what exactly has OnePlus changed from the 7 to the 7T? Well, quite a lot actually. We’ve run through all the changes, so if you’re in the market for a new OnePlus phone, you know what you’re looking at. Price and availability When the OnePlus 7 came out it cost £499 (around $640, AU$930) for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and £549 (around $700, AU$1,000) for 8GB / 256GB.  In India, the OnePlus 7T costs ₹37,999 / $599 (roughly £430, AU$790) for the 8GB / 128GB handset and ₹39,999 (around $565, £455, AU$830) for 8GB / 256GB. That means it could end up being cheaper than the OnePlus 7, but prices often change for different markets. We don't know the UK release date or price f...

Apple set to 'double' contribution to Japan Display rescue plan

Apple is reportedly set to double its contribution to a rescue plan for one of its major display suppliers following the withdrawal of a Chinese investment firm. Japan Display provides LCD screens for most major iPhone models, including the iPhone 11, but financial difficulties had led it to search for fresh funding. Chinese fund Harvest had been set to provide more than half of the 80 billion yen (£602 million required) but pulled out earlier this week. Apple itself had been expected to invest $100 million (£81m). Huawei 'eager'  to help Apple Apple and Qualcomm  settle litigation What is 5G ?  Everything you need to know Apple Japan Display Japan Display has now been forced to look for new sources of funding and reportedly said it was expecting to receive $200 million (£162m) from one of its customers.  This appears to be a thinly-veiled reference to Apple given the existing relationship between the two firms that fact that the Cu...

Best Apple Watch apps we've used in 2019

It’s been an interesting year for even the best Apple Watch apps. In the spring it seemed as if the Watch had lost its sparkle, with many big-name apps either languishing or being pulled from the Watch altogether. The problem wasn’t that Apple Watch apps are a bad idea, though.  Far from it, as our selection here demonstrates. It was that sometimes, apps were designed to answer the wrong question: “could we make a Watch app?” but not “should we?” Now, watchOS 6 is set to bring an App Store to your Apple Watch for the very first time. That may encourage app developers to take the Apple Watch more seriously, so 2019 may be a big year for great new apps on your wrist. The Apple Watch 4 is proving pretty popular too, and that's why you're probably here checking out the new apps. In fact, it's one of the best smartwatch options out there, though it has been overtaken by the new Apple Watch 5 . Our favorite apps, the ap...
